A group of 14 people organized by Carlos Cesar of the Flint Neighborhood Association and Flint Park Advocates volunteered on a Sunday morning, October 9, 2011, to clean up the path leading to Father Travassos Park in the Flint Neighborhood that was badly in need of cleaning. Much of the area was strewn with trash and leaves, making the park less inviting to use. Volunteers made a huge improvement in the area in less than two hours of work on a warm October morning. The park provides a safe area for recreation among large numbers of youth from the nearby neighborhood as well as a place for soccer and other team sports throughout the year. Click here for photos of an earlier clean-up at the park in July. Click here for photos of a clean-up along Plymouth Avenue, and here for photos of the clean-up at Cook Pond earlier in the year.
