Fall River Housing Authority Family and Youth Services Coordinator Joseph DaSilva worked to ready community gardens at the Oak Village Apartments on Locust Street and at the Doolan Apartments in the City's South End. Senior residents of the two developments will then tend the gardens and share in the harvest of fresh vegetables. "These are very popular gardens," commented DaSilva. "Though the residents aren't able to do the heavy lifting needed to get the gardens started, they enjoy the chance to weed and prune the plants, and to enjoy eating the fresh produce," he added.
