The 7th
Annual Partnership for a Heart-Healthy, Stroke-Free Massachusetts
conference took place at the Hoagland-Pincus
Center in Shrewsbury, MA, on June 3, 2011. The program began with a
business meeting led by co-chair David S. Weed, Psy.D. to nominate new
executive committee members and to make several procedural changes.
Awards were then presented to keynote speaker Senator
Harriette Chandler, a strong advocate of prevention, Mass.
Partnership for Healthy Communities director Peter Lee, and Dr. Weed
among others. Following lunch and an update on the burden
of heart disease and stroke in Massachusetts presented by DPH
epidemiologist Erin Kulick, David Hiltz of the American
Heart/Stroke Association led the group in a practice session using
the new
hands-only CPR procedure. The conference concluded with two
half-hour rounds of individual presentations and displays by resource
providers from around the Commonwealth. Click
