Employees at Saint Anne's Hospital were given the opportunity on December, 12th and 20th, 2011, to sign up to participate in a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) purchasing arrangement with Silverbrook Farm in Dartmouth, MA. Farm owner Andy Pollock. The CSA will deliver a share of seasonal produce to the Hospital every week for 19 weeks starting in mid-June to make it easier for employees to pick them up. Payment can be made through PayPal or credit card or as a payroll deduction of $63.20 per week over the first six months of the year. Each share will feed three to four people. Half shares are also available. "This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase farm fresh vegetables every week without having to make the trip to the farm," commented Saint Anne's director of volunteer services Diane Palmer. Silverbrook Farm will provide a list of each week's offering along with recipes for preparing vegetables that may not be as familiar to purchasers. The Hospital plans to provide cooking demonstrations over the summer as a way to encourage healthier eating, part of the Hospital's new employee wellness program. For more information about the project, contact the Saint Anne’s Public Relations office at 508-235-5056. For information about Silverbrook Farm, contact Andy Pollock at 508-991-5185.
