Given that the project will have a small increase in funding over this year's allocation, the Fall River Shannon Community Safety Initiative will be able to expand some of the projects it has developed to reduce gang violence in Fall River. At a proposal review meeting held on October 11, 2011, agencies participating in the Shannon Initiative, a sub-committee of the Youth CHOICES Collaborative composed of community organizations city agencies, and local law  enforcement dedicated to addressing gang and youth violence in the City of Fall River, met to review the various program components for the coming year. Using a collaborative and comprehensive approach, the group actively addresses prevention, intervention, and gang suppression strategies to attempt to address all components of gang involvement and youth violence. Click here for photos of last year's program announcement. For more information about the project, contact Fall River Youth Services Director Christian McCloskey at 508-324-2419.
