Nutrition educators from the University of Massachusetts Extension Nutrition Education Program in Fall River gave Downtown Farmers' Market passers-by on July 7, 2011 a chance to sample a recipe for a vegetable bruschetta made from vegetables harvested the day before at the Westport Town Farm. "This is a wonderful way to enjoy some of the terrific produce you can purchase right here in the market," commented nutrition educator Lindsay Magan. Project leader Pat Bebo and her staff of educators plan to visit a number of local farms to purchase food for future demonstrations at the market each Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. and noon. Visits to the farm and the cooking demonstrations will be filmed each week and aired on Fall River Government Channel on cable television.

Produce from the Westport Town Farm is often available along with produce from half a dozen other farmers each week. Click here for the video of the demonstration. Click here for the recipe.
