The Walk to End Alzheimer's held at Bristol Community College on September 22, 2012 began in pouring rain which came to an end as hundreds headed out of the campus onto Elsbree Street. Mayor William Flanagan was introduced by Rose Grant from Fall River. Pam MacCormak and Susan Catlin from the Alzheimer's Association of Southeastern Massachusetts also took part in the ceremony which included asking participants to plant a colorful flower in memory of a loved one. The event raises awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. The Walk involves family, friends, co-workers, social and religious groups in a display of combined strength and dedication in the fight against the disease. Participants are expected to fundraise in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness. Click here for the Herald News article. Click here for a brief video of the walk.
