The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Center for Civic Engagement invited community leaders and faculty to gather on November 2, 2012, at the Woodland Commons for a chance to get to know one another in a two-hour "speed-dating" style format. Assistant Provost Matthew Roy welcomed about fifty participants and explained that each would have about three minutes to introduce themselves and to briefly describe opportunities for service-learning students to become involved in community settings such as social service agencies, schools and government organizations. "We did this last year and found it to be a terrific way of matching opportunities and human capital," noted Dr. Roy. "We anticipate a number of new matches will result from the process next semester". Click here for a five-minute video of the event. Click here for photos of this year's Civic Engagement Summit.
