Nearly 200 contestants gathered at B.M.C. Durfee High School for the second annual Dodgeballin' for Kids fundraiser for the Fall River Children's Museum on April 21, 2012. The event was expected to raise more than $8,000 that will be divided among the Children's Museum of Greater Fall River, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Fall River YMCA. The contest was organized through the Fall River Schools but was open to the public as well. Participants paid to compete in three age categories (Toss for 11-12, Throw for 14-17 and Launch for 18+). The project, conceived last year by Children's Museum board member Robert Costa, was part of a sports marketing class at UMass-Dartmouth led this year by Jenna Miedzionoski. Competing teams include last year's winner, Strictly Business, the Big Chouricos, Hot Hot Hot Childe and Picked Last. Winning teams included Hood 978 in the Launch division, Dodgefathers in the Throw category and the Semi-Pros in the Toss Division. Click here for the Herald News article.
