Fall River Mass in Motion coordinator Julianne Kelly toured staff from Health Resources in Action (HRIA), the Boston office of the Mass. Department of Public Health (DPH), and Southeast Regional DPH Community Liaison/Policy Coordinator Maria Evora-Rosa, on August 29, 2012 to show them various projects underway in the City. The hour-long trip included some of the newly cleaned and refurbished parks, views of Cook Pond, newly proposed Fall River Regional Bikeway, including the planned Quequechan River and Scholarship City bike routes and striping on Eastern Avenue, Plymouth Avenue and Stonehaven Road, and the addition of both school and community gardens. Following the tour, the group joined Health and Human Services Director Henry Vaillancourt, M.D., Fall River Park Advocates Coordinator Sandy Dennis, and Fall River Bicycle Committee chairman Brian Pearson.in the Government Center conference room to continue the discussion of ways to change policies and environments to favor healthy choices.
