Members of NAMI Greater Fall River observed the start of Mental Illness Awareness Week early with a candlelight vigil at the Corrigan Mental Health Center on October 1, 2012 held behind the facility in an area dedicated to former NAMI president Anita B. Pyatt. Volunteer Dave Furtado, Corrigan Mental Health Center Clinical Director Gregory Cowan, and volunteer Mark Wargot each received Heroes in the Fight awards, NAMI member Al Araujo updated members on changes in Medicaid/Medicare procedures, and local singer Ann Flynn gave a rendition of "Happy Days Are Here Again" before the gathering broke up.
