The last of three forums on the law and public policy implications of the social determinants of health entitled "Health in All Policies: Designing Cross-Sector Policies to Improve Health" was held at Brown University on April 10, 2012. A panel of three presenters moderated by Dr. Patricia Nolan, Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services, Policy, and Practice of Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University and co-director of the Community Health Clerkship. The panel included Dr, Dannie Ritchie, Director of the Transcultural Community Health Initiative, Dr. Lindsay Rosenfeld, from the Institute on Child, Youth, and Family Policy at Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management, and Ralph Fucillo, President of the DentaQuest Foundation. Each addressed different aspects of the problems presented by factors such as race, income, social status and education on the health status of various sectors of the community. The presentation was part of a seminar series exploring how where people live, work and play impacts their health, and what policy makers should do about it presented by the Taubman Center for Public Policy and American Institutions at Brown University.
