The RAPPP
Program (Responsible Attitudes toward Pregnancy, Parenting &
Prevention) is an adolescent pregnancy prevention program designed to be
used within the curriculum of the health or science department of high
and junior high school systems in the City of New Bedford. RAPPP
also impacts adolescents and young adults in the community through a
number of outreach programs. RAPPP
has reached more than 47,500 teens and parents since its inception,
including more than 27,000 teens through its in-school programs at area
senior and junior high schools. Healthy
City Fall River coordinator David Weed heard a report on the overall
program as well as the Healthy Youth Initiative, a training project created
by the nonprofit Search
Institute, at a special meeting of the Southcoast Hospital Community
Benefits Committee meeting on November 14, 2012. The RAPPP Program aims
to create a stronger community for our young adults by emphasizing
positive developmental assets. Funding is provided by Southcoast
Health System and grants from the Massachusetts Department of Public
Health. Click
