The Fall
River Housing Authority offered 500 free frozen turkeys to
residents of the Housing
Authority and other needy families on the Monday before the 2012
Thanksgiving donated by Jerry Remy and Remy's
Sports Bar and Grill co-owner John O'Rourke at the Father Diaferio
Village. Mayor William Flanagan and Housing Authority Executive Director
Thomas Collins to hand out the free birds to any resident. "We've
been welcomed so nicely down here in the Fall River Area we felt it's the
least we can do to give something back, so Happy Thanksgiving!"
commented Remy who has opened his sixth sports bar and restaurant on Davol
Street. Turkeys that were not given away to Housing Authority residents
were donated to local food pantries for distribution later in the week. Click
