PARTNERS | HEALTHY CITY  | HOW HEALTHY | VISION | SUMMIT | PRIORITIES | FUNCTIONS | CITY OF FALL RIVER

The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth worked with Partners for a Healthier Community to conduct a research study during the first several months of 2012 to determine what resources families would like from their community and school to help them live healthy lives. UMass-Dartmouth School of Nursing Professors Maria Vazquez and Lori Keough met with parents and other child caregivers to talk about what they need to help them live healthy lives. The sessions were conducted in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Their findings were presented at the 3rd Annual Clinical and Translational Science Retreat held on May 22, 2012 in Shrewsbury, MA at the Hoagland-Pinkus Conference Center of UMass Medical School. The results of the study will help to better understand how parents think about their children's health. Click here for a video of the presentation and here for photos of the group recruiting parents for the focus groups in Fall River. For more information about this project, contact Lori Keough, RN, at 508-999-8764.
