PARTNERS | HEALTHY CITY  | HOW HEALTHY | VISION | SUMMIT | PRIORITIES | FUNCTIONS | CITY OF FALL RIVER

Students at the John J. Doran Elementary Schools were treated to a noontime visit on April 30, 2012 by Chef Kim Reynolds, Elementary Visiting Chef for Whitson's School Nutrition, as part of its contract to provide food service to the Fall River Schools. Chef Kim emphasized the importance of eating fruits and vegetables and handed out samples of a smoothie made with oranges, bananas, avocados and yogurt. She emphasized the importance of eating fruits and vegetables as fuel for their bodies and of children trying foods that are unfamiliar to them, calling it a "culinary adventure." Chef Kim had already made this presentation at the Silvia and Letourneau schools and hoped to be able to get to most of the other schools before the end of the school year.
