The Diabetes Association Inc., a program of  People, Incorporated celebrated World Diabetes Day at their program headquarters, 170 Pleasant Street, on November 14, 2012. Mayor William Flanagan proclaimed the Day in Fall River to an assembled group from a number of PI's programs. Citing his own family experience with diabetes, the Mayor praised the Association for providing education and direct services to hundreds of people within the City who either have diabetes or who are at risk of developing it. Representatives of a number of agencies and vendors were on hand to provide information about their services, and Adult Services Coordinator John Quintas demonstrated how to make a healthy fruit smoothie for the assembled guests.
