Kevin McNally and several other members of The Fall River Rotary have organized a community garden on the grounds of Bristol Community College's (BCC) to give local residents a chance to raise their own produce. Half of the 20 garden plots will also give Interact students at B.M.C, Durfee High School and Master Gardners from the College the chance to help people at local soup kitchens and food pantries by donating the produce from the garden later in the summer. There are common workdays to help maintain the garden and the The Rotary Club will be providing seeds throughout the season. The group received a $1,000 seed grant from the New England Grassroots Environmental Fund. According to the group's web page, "what started out as a mission to provide a communal space where residents can come together and grow fresh produce has yielded much more in its second planting season. By sharing the harvest with our neighbors in need, the aptly named Community Garden cultivates kinship, nurturing not only the body, but the soul." Click here for a video of some early weeding. Click here for a Herald News article about the project. For more information, contact McNally at 781-930-3199 or by email on the Community Garden website, www.rotarygarden.org,
