A meeting to plan and expand the BMX bicycle course at Britland Park was held on August 27, 2013 at the ledge behind the Fall River Police Department on Pleasant Street. Chris Durand, local BMX bicycle enthusiast, along with Middleborough businessman and rider, Geroge Costa, owner of Rennen Design Group, and professional rider Brandon Christie, met with members of the Fall River Bicycle Committee and Mayor Flanagan's Bicycle Commission. The group discussed how the path could be rebuilt and designed to create tracks for both new and experienced riders. This is part of the Fall River Mass In Motion effort to create places for active living throughout the City, especially for younger people. There is a growing interest in BMX biking, but it requires paths that are specifically engineered for BMX bikes. Chris Durand organizes weekly BMX rides around Fall River every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. (weather and daylight permitting) leaving from the Flint Plaza. Mass In Motion Coordinator Juliane Kelly has looked at other off-road courses and is eager to meet with anyone with an interest in cycling in any form.
