Members of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club gathered with several other community leaders on March 30, 2013 for four-hour strategic planning session at White's Restaurant. Starting with a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis, the group moved under the leadership of University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Assistant Provost and Director of the Center for Civic Engagement Dr. Matthew Roy toward a new vision for the organization. Dr. Roy began by showing a 15-minute video from the Nightline series entitled "The Deep Dive" about the industrial product design firm IDEO at work to get people thinking "out of the box" about what the Boys and Girls Club could be from the perspective of children, parents and board members. From there, the group began to formulate strategic plans going forward for the Club. Click here for a twenty-seven-minute video of the first part of the meeting. For more information about the event, contact Boys and Girls Club Executivve Director Peter McCarthy at 508-324-2419.
