As part of the Greater Fall River Fitness Challenge Fitness Fusion instructor Mindy Davis leads a walking and jogging group every Monday and Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Kennedy Park. The group, which runs for half an hour starts with a five-minute warm-up walk. Then, for the next twenty minutes, the group alternates between 90 second jogging and two-minute running sessions. They then finish with a five-minute cool-down walk. "It's a great way to get in shape for the upcoming Giunta 5K race that will be held this year on April 7th," notes Davis. The group is open to any Fitness Challenge participant just by showing up. Sponsored by Partners for a Healthier Community and Southcoast Hospitals, the event was organized with the participation of All Generations Fitness, the Diabetes Association, Inc., Fitness Fusion, General Fitness. Greater Fall River Re-creation, Healthy City Fall River, and the Fall River YMCA. The Challenge offers low cost opportunities for those who live, work or attend school in the Greater Fall River Area to get fit, lose weight, have fun and win prizes.
