People Incorporated's Diabetes Association nutrition educator John Quintas led a group on Heart-Healthy Cooking Tips following the Fifteenth Fitness Challenge on February 23, 2013 at Greater Fall River Re-creation. Mr. Quintas praised the group for getting a good workout in the Challenge and noted that eating a healthy diet was the other half of the battle in terms of losing weight. "Eating fresh foods that are not processed is the key to a heart-healthy diet" noted Quintas. "Foods with a lot of preservatives and added salt and sugar are only going to get you into trouble, " he added. He invited group members to join him on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. for free nutrition sessions at the Diabetes Association, Inc., located at 170 Pleasant Street, Fall River with a People Incorporated sign on it. Sponsored by Partners for a Healthier Community and Southcoast Hospitals, the Challenge offers low cost opportunities for those who live, work or attend school in the Greater Fall River Area to get fit, lose weight, have fun and win prizes. Over 900 people have registerd and weigh-in at Re-Creation or at their workplace. Click here for a video of the presentation. Click here for photos of the 15th Challenge event.
