Patients, staff and visitors to Charlton Memorial Hospital, part of the Southcoast Health System, can take advantage of the opportunity to by fresh, local produce at a small farmers' market held every Thursday afternoon near the Hospital entrance through the summer months of 2013. This is one of four markets that the Hospital is offering, including sites at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, Tobey Hospital in Wareham, and the South Coast Business Center in Fairhaven. "We're just trying to break down barriers to get fresh fruits and vegetables to our communities and to our employees and patients," said Southcoast Hospitals' Government Affairs Coordinator Sydney Patten who oversees the four markets. The local farmers include Sampson Farm of Westport and Silverbrook Farms of Dartmouth. Click here for a brief  video.
