Sophomore students at B.M.C. Durfee High School and seventh graders from all four middle schools participated in the second annual Career Day on May 21, 2013 in the school gymnasium. Students interviewed professionals that they had pre-selected for 5 minutes each. Three hours in the morning for the Sophomores and two hours after lunch for the middle schoolers provided students with a highly interactive opportunity to talk to more than dozens of adults in a variety of professions. Students were challenged to speak to at least 15 of them over during each 50-minute periods to learn about various careers and the requirements for entering that field. B.M.C. Durfee guidance director Aimee Bronhard organized the activity to help students connect with the real world of work to make their studies and career paths more relevant. Students who completed all 15 interviews were eligible to participate in a drawing for prizes. Click here for a two-minute video of the event. For more information, contact Ms. Bronhard at 508.675.8100, Ext. 1199.
