Volunteers with the Fall River Street Tree Planting Program worked with employees of the City of Fall River to mulch newly planted trees and plants in North Park. Volunteer Tree Stewards trained through the Street Tree Planting program were joined by volunteers from Southcoast Hospitals to get the work done. Street Tree Planting Program coordinator Mary Ann Wordell oversaw the operation. The Street Tree Planting Program planted ten Valley Forge elms and established the Memorial Grove and Memorial Stone in 2012 for the three young men from Fall River who died in the war against terrorism.
