The fifth season of the Downtown Farmers' Market opened on July 1, 2014, this time at the corner of Columbia and Canal Street. Several farm stands as well as several local craft vendors were on hand on the first day of the new Tuesday market that runs from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. each week from June through September. People enjoyed looking over the offerings while Anne-Marie Gazdik played her guitar and sang. "People seem happy with the new location that provides shade, free parking and easy access to several downtown high rise apartment buildings," noted Partners Market Coordinator Annemarie Holly who organizes the Market each year. Other markets are also available at Saint Anne's Hospital on Mondays, at Ruggles Park every Wednesdays and at Charlton Hospital once a month, and at Kennedy Park on Saturday mornings. Partners will have someone available each week to exchange EBT SNAP benefits for tokens that can be used with a number of the farmers at each of the markets. Click here for an eight-minute video.
