The sixth AHA! Fall River event, "Fables & Folklore" took advantage of the early darkness to create a Halloween motif. People walked the streets dressed in costume and painted faces to visit the ten event locations on October 15, 2015. "It was a great opportunity for people to get out and walk," commented SSTAR's Community Prevention Coordinator as he manned the WalkFallRiver.org table in front of Government Center. Other organizations, including Battleship Cove, the Children's Museum, AMP Academy, the Youth Musical Theatre Corp., showcased their offerings. Storyteller M.P. Feitelberg offered the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and other favorites, while B.M.C. Durfee High School Art Club students gave children to design their own spooky creations. AHA! Fall River was formed in June 2013 in collaboration with the New Bedford AHA! and the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts. AHA! stands for arts, history and architecture. The purpose of the organization is to develop collaborative relationships in order to expand and sustain arts and cultural programming in the two cities. Click here for an eight-minute video of the event.
