Jason Zutaut, owner of the Fall River Book Outlet Store at 847 Pleasant Street, has been working with Community Advocate and Attorney David Dennis to bring over $2 million in book donations to Fall River youth. Starting about three years ago in cooperation with Ocean State Job Lot, the project is on schedule to give away 100,000 books, about ten books for every child in the Fall River School System. Books have been given to students at the Kuss, Morton and Talbot Middle Schools, and the project is now working to give students book in the elementary schools. The Fall River Police officer, under Chief Dan Racine, will be distributing books and reading to children this summer in the Housing Authority developments. Books will also be distributed to children during the upcoming  AHA! Fall River event on May 21, 2015 with the help of the new Fall River Alliance headed up by volunteer Claudia Sousa.. "The topics are very appropriate for children," notes Dennis. "Some of the books are about drug prevention, bullying, and how to get along with their friends in school." According to Dennis, this is the largest private donation to the Fall River School Department and perhaps to the City. Click here for a seven-minute video.
