Dozens of police and firefighters from across Bristol County helped to kick off April as Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Prevention Month on behalf of the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) of Bristol County at White's Restaurant on March 26, 2015. The four-year standing rivalry between Fall River and New Bedford departments was the center of the event that also included police from Attleboro, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Mansfield, Seekonk, Somerset, Swansea, Taunton, and Westport. “April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, but all year long, we wouldn’t be able to do our work without the professionalism and expertise of our friends in the police and fire departments throughout the county,” CAC Executive Director Michelle Loranger said.  “We’re grateful for this event as a way to highlight our mission and philosophy that there is no excuse for child abuse, honor our valuable partnerships, and have fun, all for an important cause.” The CAC of Bristol County is a not-for-profit agency that provides comprehensive forensic, health and medical, and support services to children who have been victims of sexual abuse and violence. The agency will provide many outreach activities in various schools and child serving agencies throughout the county during the month of April.
