Following several public input sessions, construction began in early May 2015 on a $2.4 million project at Father Travassos Park to upgrade the existing soccer field, build a new dek hockey facility and install a water playground area with benches, lighting and walking trails. The project is part of a $10 million in improvements to Britland Park and the addition of a new rail trail that will run through the Quequechan River and tie into the existing bike path that runs behind the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center along South Watuppa Pond. "This will totally transform the center of the City," said Flint Neighborhood Association President Carlos Cesar. "An area that has been ignored for over 100 years will become a gem and attract people from throughout the region," he added. The project, which is advocated by Fall River Mass in Motion, is expected to be completed by October  Click here for a two-minute video.
