The Fall River School Committee presented Partners School Wellness Coordinator Marcia Picard with a statewide Friend of Education award given by the Massachusetts Association for School Committees' Board of Directors at the October 13, 2015 School Committee meeting. The Award recognizes an individual who through their individual contribution to the pubic schools of any community has demonstrated commitment to and support of public education. "Marcia Picard was nominated by the School Committee for her contribution to the Fall River Public Schools, particularly in the area of school wellness," noted School Committeeman Gabe Andrade. As a Partners employee, Ms. Picard has been coordinating and facilitating the physical education program, organized two walk-to-school events each year for the past three  years, worked closely with the school wellness policy committee, and worked on various projects and committees to promote the wellness of Fall River school children.  "I'm working with people for whom I have a great deal of respect," stated Picard upon accepting the award.
