Nepalese students, family members and supporters from around the Fall River Area gathered at Fall River Government Center during the evening of June 10, 2015 for a prayer walk in support of the victims of Nepal's recent earthquakes. Matina Tuladhar and Alija Kanki have organized an effort to raise money to repair a small schoolhouse in Nepal that suffered major damage in the earthquake earlier this year. "We are trying to make people aware of the conditions in Nepal," stated Ms. Tuladhar. "We are going to gather in the First Baptist Church and pray for the people in Nepal." She would like to raise $20,000 so the school can reopen and continue to provide education to the children. She is encouraging people to donate any amount, large and small, over the coming weeks, and donations can be make to "First Baptist Church - Nepal Earthquake Relief" and left at the Church office at 228 N. Main Street where the group gathered after the walk to see pictures of the earthquake damage to the school and other buildings and to hear prayers from a Hindu priest and Rev. Singleton-Carron.
