Members of the South Coast Bikeway Alliance, who have a plan for a bikeway from Providence to Provincetown, attended their second annual South Coast Summer Bike Challenge Awards Ceremony on September 19, 2015 at the Dartmouth YMCA. Many members rode from Mattapoisett and Fall River to the ceremony. One hundred twelve riders collectively rode more than 60,000 miles. Some individual riders completed the equivalent of crossing the continental United States. Rick Schwartz of Fall River completed 1,872 miles and Robin Thorpe, also of Fall River, completed 1,542 miles. Attending the ceremony were Fall River Bicycle Commitee Chairman Brian Pearson, Fall River Mass In Motion Coordinator Julie Kelly, and Fairhaven, Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester and Middleboro Representative Bill Straus, who chairs the Joint Committee on Transportation.
