Over 100 advocates gathered for the Fifth Annual Bike Summit sponsored by the South Coast Bikeway Alliance, at White's Restaurant on March 26, 2015. Keynote speaker Boston Bicycle Czar Nicole Freedman, former Olympian and two-time national women's cycling champion was introduced by Alliance President Bob Espindola and Fall River Mass In Motion Coordinator Julie Kelly. Nicole has been instrumental in increasing the popularity of bicycling in Boston and has transformed the City into one of the best for cycling across the nation. Representative Bill Straus, Chair of the House Transportation Committee, reported on the Administration's commitment to healthy transportation and gave an update on recent legislation. MassBike's new executive director, Richard Fries, also spoke on the theme of "Building the Bicycle Culture" and urged participation in the South Coast Summer Bicycle Challenge.
