PARTNERS | HEALTHY CITY  | HOW HEALTHY | VISION | SUMMIT | PRIORITIES | FUNCTIONS | CITY OF FALL RIVER

Over twenty people interested and involved in improving access to whole, unprocessed food in the Greater Fall River Area met on January 19, 2016 in the Community Room at the HealthFirst Family Care Center to review past efforts and brainstorm ways of improving the collective approach. Healthy Eating / Active Living (HEAL) Task Force Co-chairs David Weed and Julie Kelly organized the event to bring together the best thinking about how community gardens, farmers' market, corner stores, major grocers, and restaurants could improve access to healthy food, especially for people living on limited incomes. The group also looked at current educational efforts, potential future sources of funding and active legislative efforts. Results of the session will be widely circulated to encourage continued discussion and help shape future program decisions. Click here for the easel sheet notes. Click here for a 26-minute video of the final summary remarks the followed over two hours of discussion. For more information, contact Dr. Weed at 508-837-9029.
