Over the past several years, a series of overflow shelters were set up throughout the City to service the City’s homeless population during the cold winter months from January through March. Over one hundred people were given a warm bed, a hot shower and a hot meal because dozens of volunteers have stepped up and volunteered to operate the overflow shelters. "If these shelters were not in place, these homeless individuals would have been sleeping on the streets, noted Parayno. On behalf of the City and its residents Mayor Jasiel Correia II's Chief of Staff, Chris Parayno, presented awards to the organizations involved on April 28, 2016 at the regular meeting of the homeless program directors at the First Baptist Church. "I am here today to recognize the organizations and people who worked so hard to provide shelter for our homeless population", added Parayno. Click here for a five-minute   video of the presentation.
