Participants in the Greater Fall River Fitness Challenge and the Fall River Parent Academy who attended the eighth presentation in the weekly series, "How to Lose Weight Without Going Hungry" on March 5, 2016 heard Dr. David Weed and Southcoast Health Registered Dietitian Amanda Raposo talk about Type 2 diabetes and how low carbohydrate, high fat diets can reduce or even eliminate dangerous levels of blood sugar. Dr. Weed also discussed how bariatric surgery can also lower blood sugar, though diabetes returns in about forty percent of patients if they resume a high carbohydrate diet.
