Participants in the Greater Fall River Fitness Challenge and the Fall River Parent Academy who attended the tenth presentation in the weekly series, "How to Lose Weight Without Going Hungry" on March 12, 2016 heard Dr. David Weed and Southcoast Health employee Amanda Raposo, MS, RDN, CDE, talk about cholesterol and heart disease. Dr. Weed the session started by explaining some basics about low-carb diets, and then Ms. Raposo explained how reducing refined grains and sugars lead to lower rates of the type of LDL cholesterol that is associated with heart disease.
