State Representative Carole Fiola invited Fall River Area substance abuse provider staff to participate in a forum, "Tackling the Opioid Epidemic: Provider to Provider", held at the Center for Innovation and Entreprenurship on October 13, 2016, designed help providers become more familiar with one another. Panelists included Fall River Herald News Editor Lynne Sullvan, Fall River Police Department Captain Joseph Cabral, Fall River Fire Department EMS Deputy Director Beth Faunce, Southcoast Medical Director Dr. Robert Caldas, Saint Anne's Hospital Social Worker Brittany Lynch, Fall River Mayor Jasiel Corriea, and Stanley Street Treatment and Resources CEO Nancy Paull, Following the first round of one-on-one discussions among provider staff, Massachusetts Department of Public health Commissioner Monica Bharel arrived to address the group about current measures to stem the statewide epidemic.
