Students at the Resiliency Preparatory School participated in a day-long Building Our Lives Drug-Free (BOLD) Summit held at the School on June 14, 2016. Following opening remarks by Principal Magdalena Reis, Nic Charest of Stanley Street Treatment and Resources (SSTAR) welcomed the students and introduced April Cabrera of the Bristol County District Attorney's Office who engaged the students in some question and answer exercises about alcohol and other drugs. Following her presentation, four student-created videos dealing with substance abuse were shown and judged by members of the faculty. Students then gave their own presentations in two workshops. Tom Khoury, former substance abuse counselor at B.M.C. Durfee High School, spoke prior to a cookout lunch outside. Following lunch students walked to the office of State Representative Carole Fiola's office to hear a statement from her and to swear in student government members for the 2016-2017 school year. After student returned to school, the winner of the video contest was announced. Students and staff then competed in a dodge ball game in the gym.
