Residents of Ships' Cove Apartments had the opportunity to help make two healthy recipes on the first of February, 2016 with the help of NHP Foundation Residential Services Coordinator Pam Anderson-Livingston  Following recipes in the Old Ways African Health and Heritage Guide, Pam demonstrated how easy it is to create an inexpensive and nutritious pumpkin soup and some pickled radishes. In this recipe, she substitutes fresh tumeric for curry powder. "The more herbs and spices you incorporate into your cooking, the better it is," she stated. Pam offers cooking classes every Monday afternoon for residents. "We always make sure people get a taste of what we make as well as copies of recipes to take home," she added. The classes are  part of an on-going effort to bring resources to the people who live in this building. Click here for a 33-minute video of the class.
