Chill Time: Games Against Gangs
Action Plan Participant:
Fall River Police Department
The Fall River Police Department, in collaboration with the City's public school administration, offered "Chill Time: Games Against Gangs", a free, after-school and evening program of activities and fun during the 2007-2008 school year. Children in grades six through twelve were invited to participate in sports, hobbies and games in a safe and secure environment as an alternative to gang involvement. School resource officers each staffed the various activities that occurred each weekday afternoon or evening.

Goal:

To reduce gang involvement by youth

Method(s):

Activities, including basketball, volleyball and television production, are offered at B.M.C. Durfee High School, the Durfee Alternative School, and Henry Lord, Matthew Kuss, Morton and Talbot Middle Schools.

Decreased incidence of youth violence
