Copicut Woods Bioreserve
Action Plan Participant:
The Trustees of Reservations

The Copicut Woods bioreserve was established and is managed cooperatively by The Trustees of Reservations, the City of Fall River, and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, Department of Environmental Management, and Division of Fisheries and Wildlife. Guided walks are offered year-round by the The Trustees and Green Futures.

2, B)  Increased and improved recreational opportunities for youth and adults

Goal:

To increase the availability of recreational and environmental activities for youth and adults. To educate the public about the importance of the Bioreserve and the need for its protection.

Method(s):

Offering after-school and summer field trips for youth, high school intern-ship programs and public walks on weekends. 

Timeline:          

The Copicut Woods are open year round.

Indicators:       

Increase in participation at walks and programs. Increased visitation to Bioreserve, decreased dumping in Bioreserve.

Progress: Copicut Woods Bioreserve is currently providing free after-school recreational and developmental activities for youth with a goal of reaching between 1,000 and 1,500 children. They are also offering at least two public programs each month and have expanded walks to new locations. A Youth Corps of 3-5 high school aged students proves 1,500 high engagement hours in cooperation with school-to-work.

Come to a walk or event. Volunteer for a work day. Join the Trustees of Reservations.
