Girl Scout Troops
Action Plan Participant:
Girl Scout Council of Southeastern Massachusetts

Girl Scout Council of Southeastern Massachusetts is an informal education program serving 20,000 members throughout southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the islands. Guided by teams of volunteer adults, girls ages 4-17 develop strong values, learn to respect themselves and others, gain confidence, make new friends and have lots of fun! Nutrition education, tobacco education and physical fitness education are offered at various times throughout the year depending on the particular interests of the local troop.

Goal:

To provide on-going, substantive, life-skills programs for girls which emphasize making good choices regarding health.

Method(s):

Train and prepare leadership teams of adults who will in turn work with girls in weekly troop settings.

Timeline:          

September through May, annually

Indicators:       

An increase in Fall River Girl Scout membership

Progress: Girl Scouts provides on-going group experience for girls ages 4-17 that continually strives to teach positive life skills especially as they relate to making good choices.

How citizens can  get involved:

Teams of volunteer adults will facilitate weekly
programs, supplemented by guest experts in related
fields of study.
