Bristol Workforce Investment Board

The Bristol Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is one of sixteen workforce boards throughout the state charged with overseeing and implementing workforce development initiatives in the Greater Fall River, Attleboro and Taunton areas. The Career Centers of Bristol County represent the WIB's "flagship product," providing quality services to both the job seeker and the employer -- at no cost. Priority Area:  Adult Basic Education, Job Training & Employment 
Priority Sub-Area:

4, B) Alternative programs including tutoring, drop-out prevention & after-school programs
 

Goal:

To increase the occupational skill attainment, employment, retention and earnings of area residents, reducing dependency on public assistance, and enhancing the productivity and competitiveness of the region.

Method(s):

Career Centers of Bristol County; SE MA manufacturing Consortium; BEST Older Youth "PRISM" Initiative; Youth Services; and other federal/state funded occupational training and educational programs.

Progress: Workforce Development Initiatives are being implemented in Fall River by the Bristol Workforce Investment Board. Ongoing training, education, job readiness and job development activities for economically disadvantaged, unemployed, and older youth are being utilized to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the region.
