Partners for a Healthier Community's Healthy Youth Task Force holds a prevention poster contest each year to involve young people in thinking about the importance of prevention in their lives. This year's event was held on June 11th at Community Development Recreation, 72 Bank Street. The theme was "The best thing about my neighborhood is . . . ". Healthy Task Force Chairperson B.J. Valente welcomes everyone at the award ceremony 

Ms. Valente introduces Stewart Kirkaldy, M.D. who presented the keynote address.

 
Steering Committee Chairperson David Weed honors Dr. Kirkaldy for his 45 years of service. Dr. Kirkaldy recalled some his experiences as a physician in the town of Westport since the 1950s.

Kelsey Proulx, a 6th grade student at Joseph Case Junior High School in Swansea, comes forward to receive her First Place award from Marcia Picard of the Girl Scout Council of Southeastern Mass.

Samantha Clark, a 7th grade student in the Somerset Middle School and a member of Girl Scout Troop 1163 receives an honorable mention. Dory Cooper. a 6th grade student at Case Junior Highs School in Swansea, receives an honorable mention award.
Art Teacher Elizabeth Sherman for the Community Development  Recreation Arts and Crafts Classes presents the 1st place prize to Channy Chhim. Victoria Oliveira  receives the 3rd Place prize from Ms. Sherman at the Community Development Recreation location.
Jaela Jang receives an Honorable Mention. Danielle MacDonald picks up an Honorable Mention
Vanessa Sherman receives a 2nd Place award. Corina Vann receives an honorable mention.
Malvin DePina of the Fall River Middle School Alternative program takes the 1st Place award presented by Susan Sterrett of FR Schools. Amy Correira, also of the Alternative School Program, walks away with the 2nd Place award.
Alex Napier & Walter Arruda are tied for 3rd Place from Ms. Sterrett. Joshua Rivera is pleased with his honorable mention award.
